Project: Failed Foam Roof Replacement with a BUR Asphalt & Gravel Roof
Summary: Our customer, Habitat for Humanity in Denton, Texas had two different types of roof construction on their facility. One section was the original asphalt and gravel built up roof that had been covered with an application of Spray Foam. The other section was a standard R-Panel Metal Roof. Both sections were experiencing severe leaks causing tremendous damage to the products and operation on the interior of the building.
The Spray Foam section was a total failure with almost 100% of the saturated foam blistered and leaking. Excessive amounts of water were trapped between the Spray Foam application and the original BUR roof. The owners stated that the Spray Foam application was a waste of money and a total failure and they would never consider that approach again.
Our recommendation was to tear off the original BUR/ Spray Foam Roof and replace it with a 4 ply Built Up Asphalt and Gravel Surface Roof. This is a durable, low maintenance roof with an extremely long life span.
This roof now has a 20 Year NDL Major Manufacturer’s Warranty.
